The Washington Capitals and defenseman Dmitry Orlov agreed to a six-year, $30.6 million contract, the Monumental Sports Network reported Friday.

Orlov has been a staple on the Capitals defensive line since 2011. He played all 82 games for the second straight season, recording 33 points and having a +30 through the entire year.

Orvlov was set to become a restricted free agent once free agency opened up, but the Capitals will not have to deal with that anymore.
