The Los Angeles Clippers’ lone free-agency move thus far has been to sign Blake Griffin to a five-year max contract. It was the first move the team really needed to make before thinking about signing other pieces to build around him and DeAndre Jordan.
The Clippers can now focus on other pieces and are targeting Joe Ingles and Danilo Gallinari as free agency moves on, ESPN reported Friday.
Both players will probably command four-year contracts worth up to $45 to $55 million. And the way the NBA has evolved into a shooting league, Ingles and Gallinari are hot commodities.
The only issue about going after Ingles is that he is a restricted free agent. The Utah Jazz will be able to match any offer the Clippers make to him. If Utah is intent on trying to keep its free agents, Ingles and Gordon Hayward will be the big commodities for Utah.
Gallinari has links to several teams and it would not be unreasonable for him to stay in the Western Conference.
