The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy on the disabled list with right knee tendinitis, the team announced Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Times reported that command issues in his previous start raised some concerns. McCarthy has six wins this season and has recorded a 3.25 ERA. He drew two walks and threw two wild pitches in his last start against the Colorado Rockies.
“He’s worked as much as anyone, if not harder than anyone,” manager Dave Roberts told the LA Times. “Because of not only the physical, what he had to go through and recover from, but the mental. And this is from last year to now. To have some of that going on in that second inning, yeah, I felt for him.”
The Dodgers recalled Trayce Thompson in the corresponding move.
