The Tampa Bay Lightning and forward Yanni Gourde agreed to a two-year, $2 million contract extension on Monday, the team announced.

Gourde scored six goals and recorded eight points in 20 games for the Lightning last season. Gourde was picked up by the Lightning after going undrafted and playing in the Quebec League. He helped the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch to a Calder Cup final.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling to sign that kind of a deal knowing where I’ve come from,” Gourde said. “It’s the organization that trusted me very early in my career, and I thank them for that.”
