The Arizona Coyotes seem to be hoping to fill its coaching vacancy before free agency opens for business at the end of the week. The Coyotes and Dave Tippett mutually parted ways last week in a move that seemed to shock many around the league, especially so close to the draft and free agency. Arizona’s coaching search may head into the American Hockey League. The Edmonton Journal reported Sunday the Coyotes are targeting Todd Nelson for the vacant spot. Nelson previously coached for the Edmonton Oilers and had been spending time with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He’s also spent time with the Oklahoma City Barrons. He helped the Griffins to the Calder Cup last season.
