Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Julio Urias received some bad news Friday. The young phenom will miss the rest of the season to undergo shoulder surgery. He is likely to be out until the middle of the 2018 season.
Urias was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in May and was placed on the disabled list weeks into the assignment. He did not win a game in five starts and owned a 5.40 ERA while he was up with the Dodgers.
The Dodgers did receive some hopeful news Wednesday. After an MRI was performed, it was learned he did not have structural damage. The inflammation continued to last and that’s what prompted the decision to have surgery.
