Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul and forward Blake Griffin declined their player options on Friday and officially became free agents.
Both players were expected to opt out of their contracts and test the free-agent market. Paul is hoping to leverage a max contract from the Clippers, but has also drawn interest from the San Antonio Spurs.
Griffin is a different type of Clippers free agent. He can earn a max deal of five years, $175 million if the Clippers choose to go after him. He can earn a four-year, $130 million from another team. It will be interesting to see which teams go after the 28 year old.
