The Florida Panthers hired former New York Island head coach Jack Capuano as its associate coach. Panthers head coach Bob Boughner announced the move Friday.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jack to our coaching staff,” Boughner said in a statement. “He is a knowledgeable and experienced voice to have behind our bench that will work well with our young players.”

Capuano was in the running to become the head coach of the expansion Vegas Golden Knights before the franchise hired Gerard Gallant.
