Detroit Pistons backup center Aron Baynes will decline his player option and become a free agent.

Stan Van Gundy, the head coach and president of basketball operations, confirmed the move Tuesday. The Pistons had been carrying three centers along with Baynes — Andre Drummond and Boban Marjanovic.

Baynes averaged 4.9 points in 75 games last season.
