Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and former GM David Griffin could not agree on the future of the franchise. In normal circumstances, it would not be a big deal and it would make sense for Griffin to step away. However, we are dealing with the Cavaliers here.
Griffin’s departure is reportedly sending shockwaves through the team and it is having an effect on the offseason.
The Cavaliers have targeted Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler in a trade. Butler has reportedly told the Bulls that he would prefer to stay in Chicago and to make things worse, Cavaliers players are encouraging Butler to stay.
Several Cavaliers players have been pushing Butler to come to the Cavaliers, but after Griffin left the Cavaliers have now told Butler the situation is volatile, according to a report Wednesday from Joe Crowly of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Is there a mutiny on the Cavaliers’ deck? Does LeBron James have anything to do with it? It’s a few interesting notions to watch over the next couple of days.
