The New York Jets may not be all that on the field, but are making strides in equality in the work place.

The New York Daily News reported Thursday that the Jets plan to hire preseason intern Collette Smith to work with the team’s secondary during training camp. Smith is currently a coach and marketing executive with the New York Sharks of the Independent Women’s Football League.

“I’m over the top. I’m humbled and I’m proud,” Smith said. “This could have happened with any NFL team. But it just so happened that it was with my beloved New York Jets. This is bigger because of that.”

Smith joins Arizona Cardinals’ Jen Welter as the only women coaches in the league.
