Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda is “resting comfortably” after being hospitalized with an undisclosed ailment, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

Dodgers spokesman Steve Brener did not provide any other detail of the 89-year-old’s condition.

“He means a lot,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters. “Not only to me personally, but to the coaches and to the players, and obviously to the organization and the city. I consider him a friend. He’s helped me along the way, and supported me.”

Lasorda managed the Dodgers from 1976 to 1996. He had been hospitalized numerous times in the past.
