The Tennessee Titans released cornerback Jason McCourty on Thursday.

McCourty had spent eight seasons with the Titans and was the team’s longest-tenured player. The NFL Network reported that McCourty had long been a trade target by the New England Patriots and that now it seems like the starts have aligned for him to go north.

McCourty had two interceptions and 59 tackles for the Titans last year.

He released a statement about his departure on his shared Twitter account.
