In 2015, James Hinchcliffe nearly died in an accident in practice for the Indianapolis 500.

Two years later, he won the Long Beach Indy Grand Prix.

Hinchcliffe won in a three-lap shootout on the streets of Long Beach Sunday. It’s an incredible feat coming all the way back from nearly bleeding out in Indianapolis. He last won a race in 2015 in New Orleans, one week before the crash.

He held off Sebastien Bourdais in a tight finish.
