The Atlanta Falcons shored up its secondary by signing cornerback Desmond Trufant to a contract extension Saturday.
The Falcons and Trufant agreed to a five-year, $69 million extension, with $42 million guaranteed, Fox Sports reported. Trufant only played nine games last season before suffering a pectoral injury. He did not play in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
Trufant received some high praise from GM Thomas Dimitroff. The Atlanta GM said Trufant “has improved each year and we believe his best ball is still in front of him.”
