Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson might have gotten caught up too much in his homecoming Tuesday night. With the Pacers already up 15 points on the Toronto Raptors, Stephenson decided to add one more bucket for good measure.
The lowly layup didn’t really harm any of the Raptors physically, but their psyches must’ve been damaged really bad. DeMar DeRozan and DeMarre Carroll got into the face of Stephenson after the layup, sparking a end-of-the-game scuffle.
“I just want to say sorry to the Raptors. I didn’t mean no harm,” Stephenson told reporters in the locker room.
It was not good enough for the Raptors brass, however. DeRozan called the bucket “tasteless” and “classless.”
Toronto spent all of time talking about Stephenson instead of getting more introspective on a bad loss while being one of the top teams who people think could knock off the Cleveland Cavaliers this year in the Eastern Conference.
Stephenson finished with 12 points in the win.
