The San Francisco 49ers have quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Schaub on its radar, the Sacramento Bee reported Friday.

Schaub has spent the last couple of seasons as a backup with the Atlanta Falcons and would have knowledge of Kyle Shanahan’s game plan and wouldn’t need much time to assimilate into the offense.

Hoyer is the same. He spent time under Shanahan’s offensive guide while playing for the Cleveland Browns.

The two options would make the most sense for the 49ers. The Bee report didn’t rule out the 49ers signing both quarterbacks.

ESPN reported earlier this week that Colin Kaepernick plans to opt out of his contract with the Niners.
