The New York Yankees will lose utilityman Tyler Austin for six weeks because of a small fracture in his foot, the New York Post reported Friday. He’s expected to be in a boot for at least three weeks.

Austin suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off of his foot in batting practice.

Austin was going to have a tough time to make the major league roster to start the season because of Greg Bird’s return and the recent addition of Chris Carter. Austin also has minor league options left.
