Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was set to play in the 2017 World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic. However, Beltre strained his calf and now all of that is in jeopardy, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Beltre suffered a grade 1 calf strain on Valentine’s Day.
The injury isn’t expected to keep him from Opening Day. It’s not expected that Beltre would try to push himself to make the WBC and possibly put Opening Day in doubt.
