There have been vague rumors early in the NFL offseason that link running back Adrian Peterson and the New York Giants together.
Peterson signaled to ESPN last week that he had “thought about” playing for the Giants in 2017 and then Wednesday he tweeted some interesting observations about New York.
Peterson cannot just join the Giants right away. The 31-year-old has one year left in his contract that’s worth nearly $12 million. But he’s coming off another injury and the Vikings might not want to spend another penny relying on his fragile knees.
Also, the New York Daily News noted that connection Peterson has with abuse. He pleaded no contest to a 2014 child abuse charge and with that the Giants might not sign him. New York got into hot water over Josh Brown‘s domestic abuse incidents prior to the 2016 season.
The Giants are slim at running back and without Rashad Jennings, Paul Perkins would be the starting running back.
