Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is going to get a huge payday in the offseason. He might not have been as good as he was in 2015, but there’s no way Washington is going to let Cousins test free agency this year.
Cousins got get franchise tagged again in 2017, which would put give him a one-year, $24 million deal. However, we all know Cousins doesn’t want to be tagged and in reality shouldn’t be tagged because he’s led Washington for the last three seasons.
ESPN reported a deal for Cousins could cost more than what the Indianapolis Colts gave Andrew Luck. The Colts and Luck agreed to a six-year, $140 million deal last year — making him the highest paid QB in the game.
It will be interesting to see whether Washington goes that big for him, considering he hasn’t won a playoff game.
