The Cincinnati Reds will lose right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey for 4 to 6 weeks recovering from elbow surgery to remove bone spurs from his throwing elbow, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Wednesday.

Bailey returned in 2016 from Tommy John surgery, but posted a 6.65 ERA in six starts for the Reds. He was shut down with bicep tendinitis.

The Reds owe Bailey $63 million over the next three years.
