PGA player Steven Bowditch had a night out on the town prior to the second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Friday.
Bowditch was arrested on suspicion of extreme DUI. Scottsdale police said Bowditch blew a 0.20 when he was take into custody at around 1 a.m. Friday. Bowditch was reportedly “swearing all over the road” and “sat through two green lights” without moving before police pulled him over.
Bowditch dried up and was able to make it for the second round of the Open, but missed the cut.
He released a statement apologizing for his behavior afterward.
“I would like to apologize to my family, friends and supporters, as well as the PGA Tour and Waste Management Phoenix Open for the incident reported today,” Bowditch said. “As I intend to fully cooperate with the authorities, I will not be making further comment at this stage.”
If convicted of extreme DUI, Bowditch could face 30 days in jail.
