Men’s basketball in Los Angeles is off to a fantastic start. Even though UCLA lost a heartbreaker to Oregon on Wednesday night in Eugene, USC was able to take care of business miles away in Corvallis 70-63.

Chimezie Metu led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds for the Trojans. Jordan McLaughlin added 10 points as well to help Metu. Off the bench, Jonah Mathews added 10 as well.

It seemed to be an all-around team performance for USC to capture its 14th straight win to start the season. USC won the rebounding total 39-37 as well.

It’s unclear really how Oregon State lost this game. The Beavers shot better than USC and had more offensive rebounds. A glaring hole was the percentage from the free throw line. Oregon State shot an abysmal 54 percent, which really hurt them in the end.

USC will try to continue its winning streak against Oregon on Friday.
