The Los Angeles Sparks defeated the Minnesota Lynx 77-76 in one of the most thrilling Game 5s you will ever see. The Sparks captured their third WNBA titles.

The Sparks won the game on a Nneka Ogwumike fade away shot five feet from the basket. Ogwumike captured an offensive rebound and was in the perfect position to make the final shot.

A desperate heave from Lindsay Whalen with three seconds left hit the top of the backboard and missed. The Sparks quickly celebrated.

Candace Parker played a pivotal role in the second half for the Sparks. She finished the game with 28 points and 12 rebounds, including eight of the team’s 23 in the fourth quarter.

Parker, a former Tennessee Lady Vols star, exclaimed in a postgame interview with ESPN’s Shelley Smith that this one was “for Pat.”
