The New England Patriots waived offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper on Saturday, the NFL Network reported. The Patriots acquired Cooper from the Arizona Cardinals in a trade that sent Chandler Jones west. However, a foot injury has kept Cooper on the sidelines. The trade looked fair at the time — the Patriots had the chance to bolster its offensive line heading into the season to add protection to its backup quarterbacks. But it looks like the Cardinals got the best of the Patriots because Jones has four sacks this season. Cooper has only played 11 games since being selected in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
