The devastating Hurricane Matthew is making its way into Florida and should be pummeling the Sunshine State come Friday. The SEC isn’t taking any chances and has already gotten ahead of the game by canceling Saturday’s game between Florida and LSU. Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said LSU offered to host the game, but he didn’t want the team to travel in this kind of weather. The hurricane has already claimed more than 200 lives in the Caribbean alone.

“I know there will be a lot of opinions about how we came to this conclusion and when we came to the conclusion, but this is the right decision,” Foley said. Two other SEC games potentially in the path of Matthew are also up-in-the-air. Georgia-South Carolina and Miami-Florida State could also be postponed by Friday. Officials say all schools are continuing to monitor the path of the storm.
