The Minnesota Vikings were holding their collective breath Monday after running back Adrian Peterson went down Sunday night with a knee injury. Somehow, the Vikings still pulled out the win but were still waiting to hear what was actually wrong with Peterson.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Peterson suffered a torn meniscus, which is probably the best news they could’ve hoped for given the circumstance. Zimmer said his timetable is uncertain, but left the door open for him to possibly return this week.
“He’s sitting down with the doctors and (head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman),” Zimmer said.
Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon will share the carries if Peterson is indeed out for the weeks to come.
