The New England Patriots and defensive end Rob Ninkovich agreed to a one-year extension through the 2017 season Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The Boston Globe first reported Ninkovich’s extension and that the deal was signed last Monday.

Ninkovich has been suspended four games for testing positive for a banned substance and the extension will allow him to recoup the money he would lose for not playing in those four games. ESPN reported he would’ve lost about $475,000.

The 32-year-old has been with the Patriots since 2009.
