The Philadelphia Eagles named rookie quarterback Carson Wentz the starter for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns over Chase Daniel, coach Doug Pederson told reporters Monday.

Wentz had been recovering from a ribs injury that he suffered in the first preseason game. Pederson said that Wentz is “100 percent healthy” and he’s been practicing with the first team offense.

The Eagles traded Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a couple of draft picks over the weekend, opening the spot for Wentz or Daniel and now its clear that the Eagles are going into a different direction to start the season.
