Hours before game time, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban will start Blake Barnett at quarterback for the season opener in Dallas against the USC Trojans on Saturday, according to AL.com.

Barnett had been in a competition with Cooper Bateman and Jalen Harris. Barnett only started one game last season as Jake Coker”s backup.

He was ranked as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the country when he came into Alabama, according to College Football Talk.
