The Oakland Raiders organization filed a trademark application last week for “Las Vegas Raiders,” Forbes reported Thursday. The magazine reported that the filings were made with the intentions to use the trademark for commerce in the future.

The trademark doesn’t necessarily mean that the Raiders are definitely going to be on the move. The San Diego Chargers made trademark filings last year for “LA Chargers” when they thought they were heading back north, the magazine reported.

The San Jose Mercury News reported that the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee published a report for a $1.9 billion stadium proposal. The Las Vegas site is also looking to host a Super Bowl in the future as well.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Raiders are going to move, but they could also be using the filings as leverage to try to get the city to pay for a new stadium, something the city has said it won’t do.
