New York Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has broken an unusual single-season record, and we’re not even in the last month of the baseball season.

According to The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Ellsbury has set the single-season mark for catcher’s interference.

In a game against the Baltimore Orioles, Ellsbury swung and hit the mitt of Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph resulting in another catcher’s interference call.

It was his ninth of the season. However, it doesn’t really affect his on-base statistics, according to Hardball Talk. He just gets a recorded plate appearance.
