Right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole is expected to return from the disabled list on Saturday and rejoin the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Bill Brink.

Cole will pitch against the Washington Nationals. He has been sidelined with a triceps injury and hasn’t pitched since June 10 against the St. Louis Cardinals. He exited that game early.

Cole is 5-4 this season with a 2.77 ERA and 55 strikeouts.

The Pirates will send Francisco Liriano to the mound on Friday and rookie pitcher Chad Kuhl will get the go Sunday for the series finale.

Pittsburgh is 46-43 and 7.5 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central division.
