Kevin Durant has joined the Golden State Warriors and Russell Westbrook probably isn’t going to re-up with the Oklahoma City Thunder this year. There’s “no chance” Westbrook renegotiates with Oklahoma City, according to NBA.com’s David Aldridge.
It doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t re-sign with the Thunder in next year’s offseason. But at this point, Oklahoma City isn’t going to sign him to an extension. There could be a big trade looming in the aftermath of the Durant decision too.
Oklahoma City already traded away Serge Ibaka for two young players in hopes to entice Durant to stay. If the team wants to get the most value out of Westbrook, GM Sam Presti could look to trade Westbrook in the offseason or at some point during the season.
