It was finally official, the Philadelphia 76ers selected LSU forward Ben Simmons with the No. 1 pick of the NBA Draft Thursday night. It was the obvious pick since the 76ers made it known days ago that they would take Simmons with the top pick.

There are plenty of questions surrounding Simmons, but he is the best overall player in the draft. He does need work on his jump shot, but when you have a player that’s being compared to LeBron James in some respects you have to take him.

Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in his freshman year with the Tigers. LSU didn’t make the tournament, though it didn’t stop Simmons from being named Freshman of the Year.
