Let’s face it. Tampa Bay Rays games are rarely sold out. Nor do they really have a fan base to fill the entire stadium, unless the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox come to town. Friday night, though, is going to change all of that.
Friday night is “Pride Night” at Tropicana Field. According to Sporting News, all ticket sale proceeds will go to the Pulse Orlando shooting victims. Everyone will receive “We Are Orlando” t-shirts. There will be OneBlood donation drives and Florida Men’s Chorale “Una Voce” will sing God Bless America and the national anthem.
The Rays will also wear special hats during the game. Tampa Bay will sport Orlando Rays, which was the Rays’ Double-A affiliate from 1999 to 2003.
Fox 13 News reported the tarp that has covered the upper deck at the Trop will be removed.
