Los Angeles Dodgers legendary broadcaster Vin Scully is in his final season in the Dodgers booth. He’s already had Elysian Park Ave renamed after him and now there’s a petition circulating to get Scully another award.

A White House petition is asking President Obama to give Scully the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his “indelible contributions to American culture.” The petition has reached 300 and its goal is to get to 100,000 by May 15.

There’s no doubt that Scully has opened the imagination of tens of thousands of Americans who have tuned into Dodgers baseball for the last 67 years. It’s remarkable how long he has lasted in an industry that changes so often.

It’s just a shame only one-third of Dodgers fans can listen to and watch games on SportsNetLA.
