The Los Angeles Rams selected quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick in last week’s NFL Draft. However, he might not be the sure-fire starting quarterback when the Rams open the season on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

Coach Jeff Fisher went on LA Today to discuss the Week 1 starting quarterback situation. Fisher said the starting quarterback situation was still basically up for grabs.

“I can’t answer that right now. You know, I think he’s hoping that that’ll be the cause and I think a lot of people are as well, but we’re not going to put him in a position to fail unless he’s prepared,” Fisher said.

You just don’t ask somebody to do something they can’t do. It’s been a short time to come a long way to grasp this offense. So, eventually he’ll be there. He’ll be ready.”

The Rams have previously said that Case Keenum was the team’s starting quarterback. Whether they will stay true to that statement remains unclear now that Goff will challenge for the spot.
