Lakers Rumors: Team Gets Permission To Interview Ettore Messina

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting its list of coaching candidates together. USA Today reported Monday the Lakers received permission to interview San Antonio Spurs assistant Ettore Messina.

The Lakers plan to meet with Messina, who is one of Greg Popovich’s top assistants and a legendary name in EuroLeague. However, Messina is on a long list of coaching candidates, which includes Kevin Ollie, Jeff Van Gundy and Luke Walton.

According to Silver Screen & Roll, Messina is know for being an Xs and Os guy and spent some time on the Lakers bench under former coach Mike Brown. He’s been with the Spurs since 2014.
