The Los Angeles Lakers balking on firing Byron Scott may have cost them Scott Brooks this time. Brooks and the Washington Wizards agreed to a five-year deal for him to replace Randy Wittman.

According to, Brooks was “intrigued” by the Lakers job and the Houston Rockets wanted him too but Washington moved quickly to get him. It was also reported before Brooks signed with the Wizards that he had interest in coaching the Lakers.

Los Angeles again misses out on a top tier head coach to replace Scott, who has coached the worst team in Lakers history. Tom Thibodeau also became the president of basketball operations and head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week.
