The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Carl Crawford on the 15-day disabled list Saturday. Crawford has been dealing with lower back pain. The Dodgers recalled Micah Johnson from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

According to MLB.com, Crawford has said he’s been dealing with back pain since the middle of spring training, and in the last couple of days the pain has gotten worse.

“He’s trying to play through it. For us, quit trying to play both sides, him trying to be available but not certain he’s available,” Dave Roberts said. “This gives him a chance to nip it. The DL seems the prudent decision. It takes pressure off him and provides us flexibility.”

Crawford is the 11th Dodgers player to hit the disabled list.

Johnson was recalled in place of Crawford. He is primarily an infielder, but also has the ability to play some outfield and pinch run when he’s needed.

  1. He’s paying for all those roids he did earlier in his career (when he was good) .
